The Cedarvale ghost School is a deteriorating, abandoned 1917 schoolhouse located in the ghost town of Cedarvale, New Mexico. Once serving a thriving homesteading and pinto bean farming community, the building was permanently closed in 1953 and has suffered heavy structural collapse in recent years.
Built in 1917, the school was expanded in 1935–1936 by the Works Progress Administration (WPA) to include a gymnasium and additional classrooms. At its peak, it housed about 50 students per room.
The town of Cedarvale was heavily impacted by the Dust Bowl and the Great Depression, eventually turning into a ghost town.
